The Therapeutic Process

Taking time to prioritize your mental health can be one of the hardest but most rewarding decisions you make. Initially several sessions are dedicated to getting to know you, your story, and individual needs, before creating a plan to best address your desired outcomes. For many, engaging in therapy is one of the best ways to help increase awareness of maladaptive patterns that are getting in the way of living the life you want. Often times having a safe space for self-exploration to cope through some of life's most challenging experiences can make all the difference.

Traum in Children & Adolescents
Evidence-Based Treatment for Trauma in Children, Adolescents, and Adults

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy is an evidence-based treatment model for children and teens with their caregivers. This model may be incorporated into sessions to address behavioral and emotional concerns related to single, multiple, and complex traumas. The length of treatment can range from 8-25 sessions based on the child and family specific needs. Sessions include PRACTICE components of psychoeducation of the trauma, parenting skills, affect modulation, cognitive coping, trauma-narration and cognitive processing, in-vivo mastery, parent-child joint sessions, and enhancing safety.  Caregiver involvement is strongly encouraged.

Cognitive Processing Therapy is an evidence-based treatment model for adolescents and adults to treat PTSD. This model utilizes components of cognitive behavioral therapy to modify and challenge unhelpful beliefs about the trauma. A large component of CPT is taught skills to utilize outside of session vs. avoidance. CPT session completion ranges from 12-25 sessions.
